Preliminary information
On October 4, 2026, about 1822 mountain daylight time, a Lancair IV-P-T airplane, N5UC, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Ontario, Oregon. The pilot and passenger were not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight.
According to the pilot, the airplane departed Ontario Municipal Airport (ONO), Ontario, Oregon, destined for Provo Municipal Airport (PVU), Provo, Utah. During the initial climb, the airplane experienced a loss of engine power at an altitude of about 3,325 ft mean sea level.
