FAA Proposes $336,000 Fine Against Planet Nine Private Air for Alleged International Flight Violations

Press release · May 28, 2026

WASHINGTON — The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has proposed a $336,000 civil penalty against Planet Nine Private Air, a carrier based in Van Nuys, California. This enforcement action addresses alleged violations of international aviation regulations and claims that the company conducted flights in a careless and reckless manner.

According to the agency, Planet Nine intentionally submitted 21 inaccurate flight plans for passenger routes between the United States and various international destinations. The company described these services as general aviation rather than commercial charter operations. Additionally, the FAA alleges that Planet Nine failed to secure the necessary overflight or landing permits for these journeys. The carrier also allegedly did not follow its own Oceanic and International Procedures Manual during these operations.

The disputed flights occurred between November 2023 and August 2024. The routes connected the U.S. with Canada, Costa Rica, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

Planet Nine has 30 days from receiving the enforcement letter to respond to the FAA.
