Rearwin Airplanes aircraft in the FAA registry

Rearwin Airplanes was a series of US airplane-manufacturing businesses founded by Andrew ("Rae") Rearwin in 1928. The company began in a Salina, Kansas garage before moving to Fairfax Airport in Kansas City. After several ownership changes, it was sold to Commonwealth Aircraft in 1942.

As of October 16, 2026, there are 75 registered Rearwin Airplanes aircraft in the FAA registry under the manufacturer name "REARWIN". These are all fixed-wing, single-engine aircraft powered by reciprocating engines. The majority of these planes were built between 1935 and 1954, with half constructed in 1940 or earlier. Of the 75 total, 72 have valid registrations. Sixty-four are classified as standard airworthiness, while one holds an experimental certificate.

The most common model is the 8135, with 19 registered aircraft built between 1939 and 1942. The 175 follows with 11 units from 1940 to 1941. Other notable models include the 7000 (7 units, 1935–1936), the 9000-L (5 units, 1937–1938), the 185 (4 units), and the 8500 (4 units). Most of these models seat two people.

Geographically, Texas holds the highest number of registrations with 8, followed by Iowa with 7 and Washington with 6. Type certificate data sheets (TCDS) provide technical specifications for these aircraft. For example, TCDS A-729, held by Commonwealth Aircraft Inc., covers models 175 and 185. TCDS A-591 covers the 9000-L.

Each model has its own page with specifications and the type certificate data sheet (TCDS). Every aircraft has a registration record by N-number.
