Quicksilver aircraft in the FAA registry

Quicksilver Aircraft is an American manufacturer of ultralight and light aircraft. Founded in 1972 as Eipper Formance and later Eipper Aircraft, the company today claims to be the leading manufacturer of ultralight aircraft in the United States, with the Quicksilver type ultralight being used to train more ultralight pilots than any other type. The company was previously known as Quicksilver Manufacturing Inc.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) registry, there are 138 registered aircraft under the manufacturer name "QUICKSILVER." This includes 137 valid registrations and 37 distinct models. The registry data is current as of 2026-10-16. Most of these aircraft are fixed-wing, single-engine designs. The vast majority, 129 of them, are classified as experimental airworthiness. The fleet is relatively mature, with most aircraft built between 1984 and 2009. Half of the registered aircraft were built in 2003 or earlier.

Geographically, the registrations are spread across several states. Wisconsin and California each have 15 registered aircraft, while Texas has 14. These states hold the highest number of registrations for this manufacturer.

The most common models in the registry are the SPORT 2S, the GT-400, and the SPRINT II. The SPORT 2S has 24 registered aircraft, built between 2001 and 2008, with two seats. The GT-400 has 20 registered aircraft, built between 1984 and 2008, with one seat. The SPRINT II has 14 registered aircraft, built between 1989 and 2008, with two seats. Other notable models include the MXL II and the MXL II SPORT, each with 11 registered aircraft, and the SPORT model with 8 registered aircraft.

In 2015, the owners dissolved Quicksilver Aeronautics and closed the Temecula factory after a prolonged downturn in sales. The company retained the intellectual property and arranged for parts and support to be supplied through long-time distributors such as Air-Tech Inc.
