Monocoupe aircraft in the FAA registry
Monocoupe Aircraft was a manufacturer of light airplanes originally produced in the late 1920s and 1930s. They introduced relatively inexpensive, compact, and sporty aircraft in an era of large, maintenance intensive, open-cockpit biplanes, and the Monocoupe series was one of the first economical, closed-cabin, two-seat, light aircraft in the United States. As a result, the Monocoupe soon became a successful brand.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) lists 93 registered aircraft under the manufacturer name "MONOCOUPE". Data as of 2026-10-16 shows 91 valid registrations across 13 distinct models. All are fixed-wing, single-engine aircraft powered by reciprocating engines. The majority hold standard airworthiness certificates (73), while five are classified as experimental (5). Most of these aircraft were built between 1929 and 1950, with half constructed in 1936 or earlier.
The Monocoupe models dominate the registry. The 90A is the most common variant with 41 aircraft, built from 1930 to 1941. The 110 follows with 13 units (1930–1933), and the 90 has 11 units (1930–1940). Other notable registrations include the 90AL-115 (6 units, 1941–1949), the 110 SPECIAL (5 units), and the 90AF (4 units). All listed models are two-seat configurations.
Geographically, Louisiana holds the most registrations with 11 aircraft, followed by California with 8, and Oregon with 6. For technical specifications, the Type Certificate Data Sheet (TCDS) A-306, held by Monocoupe Corporation, covers the 90A, 90, and 90AL-115 models. Each model has its own page with specifications and the type certificate data sheet, and every aircraft has a registration record by N-number.
