Globe aircraft in the FAA registry
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) lists aircraft under the manufacturer name "GLOBE" in its public registry. As of 2026-10-16, there are 426 registered aircraft under this name. The fleet consists mainly of fixed-wing, single-engine aircraft with reciprocating engines. Of these, 424 are valid registrations. The vast majority of these planes are standard airworthiness class (402), with only 9 in the experimental category.
Registered Globe Aircraft Models
The registry contains two distinct models, both of which are two-seat aircraft. The GC-1B is the dominant model, with 395 registered aircraft. Production for this model ran from 1946 to 1950. The GC-1A accounts for the remaining 31 registrations, with production years from 1945 to 1954. Most of the fleet was built between 1946 and 1956. Half of all registered aircraft were built in 1946 or earlier.
Geographic Distribution and Background
Texas holds the most registrations with 57 aircraft, followed by California with 44, and Washington with 23. The Globe Aircraft Corporation was an American manufacturer formed in 1940 in Fort Worth, Texas. It was declared bankrupt in 1947.
Type certificate data sheets (TCDS) provide the technical specifications for these models. TCDS A-766, held by the Swift Museum Foundation Inc., covers both the GC-1B and GC-1A. Each registered aircraft has a specific N-number record.
