Curtiss-Wright aircraft in the FAA registry

The Curtiss-Wright Corporation is an American manufacturer and services provider headquartered in Davidson, North Carolina. Created in 1929 from the consolidation of Curtiss, Wright, and various supplier companies, the company was immediately the country's largest aviation firm. It built more than 142,000 aircraft engines for the U.S. military during World War II.

Registered Curtiss-Wright Aircraft by N-number

As of 2026-10-16, the FAA registry lists 230 aircraft under the manufacturer name "CURTISS WRIGHT". Of these, 225 registrations are valid. The fleet consists of 55 distinct models, with the majority being fixed-wing single-engine aircraft (221) and a small number of fixed-wing multi-engine aircraft (9). All 230 registered aircraft use reciprocating engines.

Most of these aircraft were built between 1918 and 1959. Half of them were built in 1929 or earlier. The airworthiness classes include standard (116), experimental (30), and restricted (25). California holds the most registrations with 38, followed by Texas with 27, and Florida with 20.

Top Curtiss-Wright Models and TCDS

The most registered model is the TRAVEL AIR 4000, with 55 aircraft built between 1924 and 1942, seating three people. It is covered by TCDS ATC 32. The JR CW1 follows with 20 aircraft built in 1931, seating two, under TCDS ATC 397. The ROBIN has 20 registrations, built between 1918 and 1929, seating three, under TCDS ATC 40/68.

Military variants also appear in the registry. The P-40N has 12 aircraft built between 1942 and 1944, seating one, under TCDS ATC 143. The P-40E has 10 registrations, built between 1941 and 1943, seating one. The ROBIN C-1 has 10 registrations, built between 1929 and 1951, seating three, also under TCDS ATC 143.

Curtiss-Wright no longer makes aircraft but still makes many related components, particularly actuators, aircraft controls, valves, and it provides surface-treatment services. It supplies equipment to the commercial, industrial, defense, and energy markets. It makes parts for commercial and naval nuclear power systems, industrial vehicles, and oil- and gas-related machinery.

Each model has its own page with specifications and the type certificate data sheet (TCDS), and every aircraft has a registration record by N-number.
