Convair, originally Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corporation, was an American aircraft-manufacturing company created by the 1943 merger of Consolidated Aircraft and Vultee Aircraft. It later expanded into rockets and spacecraft and was purchased by General Dynamics in 1953. The company is best known for military aircraft like the B-36 Peacemaker and B-58 Hustler, as well as the first Atlas rockets.
