Bell aircraft in the FAA registry

The FAA lists aircraft under the manufacturer name "BELL." As of 2026-10-16, there are 3,085 registered aircraft in this category, representing 95 distinct models. Of these, 3,060 have valid registrations. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) data shows that the fleet is dominated by rotorcraft, with 3,074 units recorded. Most of these aircraft were built between 1948 and 2007, and half were constructed in 1981 or earlier. The engine types include 2,592 turboshaft and 468 reciprocating engines. Airworthiness classes are divided into 1,554 standard, 403 restricted, and 284 multiple classifications.

California leads with 330 registrations, followed by Florida with 300 and Texas with 220. The most registered models are the 206B (791 aircraft, built 1968 to 2004, 5 seats), the 407 (371 aircraft, built 1996 to 2007, 7 seats), and the UH-1H (294 aircraft, built 1963 to 1996, 15 seats). Other notable models include the OH-58A (208 aircraft, built 1968 to 2017, 4 seats), the 206L-3 (159 aircraft, built 1982 to 1992, 7 seats), and the 206-L4 (122 aircraft, built 1992 to 2007, 7 seats).

The Bell Aircraft Corporation was an American manufacturer known for the Bell X-1, the first supersonic aircraft, and various helicopters. Bell developed the Reaction Control System for the Mercury Spacecraft, North American X-15, and Bell Rocket Belt. The company was purchased in 1960 by Textron and now operates as Bell Textron. Type certificate data sheets (TCDS) for top models are held by Bell Textron Canada Limited under TCDS H2SW, covering the 206B, 407, and 206L-3. Each model has its own page with specifications and the TCDS, and every aircraft has a registration record by N-number.
