Probable cause
The solo student pilot's improper landing flare and subsequent improper recovery from a bounced landing.
NTSB analysis
The solo student pilot was conducting touch-and-go landings in the traffic pattern. During landing, the airplane touched down on the runway and bounced. The student pilot applied forward elevator control inputs to counteract the bounce; however, the airplane bounced two more times, which the pilot counteracted again by applying forward elevator control inputs. during which the pilot again applied forward control inputs. Subsequently, the airplane touched down in a noselow attitude, which resulted in the nose landing gear bending aft and a propeller strike. The fuselage and firewall sustained substantial damage.
The pilot reported there were no pre-accident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operations.
